Virpus!
by Peter on Aug.14, 2010, under Random Review
Hello! Well, anyone visiting this front page (grumpyland.com) probably didn’t notice. Some visiting certain subdomains certainly have. But I have moved some of my hosting from my previous hosting, Hostgator (which is still active and hosting several other sites) to this new Virpus. It’s a VPS running with full WHM/cPanel.
I hope everything goes smoothly for the next month while I try this one out. If not, time for more shopping! Which is…. rather quite time consuming.
Netfirms, wow!
by Peter on Apr.03, 2009, under Random Review
I was just googling around today on various things that relate to me… And there was one thing that was really surprising. My extremely old website hosted on netfirms from back in… 2001~2 was STILL UP!!! It had no hits prior to me visiting (so says the counter at the bottom, indicating zero). Well, at least we can confirm that they’re really reliable in terms of keeping your website up for free!
Kudos for them. But probably some negative kudos b/c for some reason I can’t recall, I did leave them.
Oh btw, they don’t even offer free hosting anymore.

overLIB!
by Peter on Mar.04, 2009, under Random Review
Here is yet another prog out there for web development that just makes you feel all fuzzy inside… (Am I a nerd?) This time is about overLIB.

overLIB is a javascript that lets you hover over certain items and it brings up a box of goodies. You’ve probably seen tons of these if you’ve been surfing your life away. Virtually anything can go in the description box, can be positioned everywhere, you can change the look & feel of it. All that power in a very convenient form!
If you are a web dev., try it out yourself. You can click here for the official homepage along with more demos.
Lightbox
by Peter on Mar.03, 2009, under Random Review
I’ve been developing various things over the web for a while now and every so often, I came across really nice, neat software that are not only great to use, it’s free! So, I’m going to write a small reviews (this isn’t going to turn into a review site) on them and hopefully, someone else who comes across it also gets to have their moments of joy finding them out. First article to be written in the reviews section! Well, currently just a blog.
It’s about Lightbox. It’s pretty famous, I don’t think it needs more publicity from some random site, but it really is one of the greatest programs a web developer should have in their tool belt. If you don’t want to read about it from me, you can also search it on google and you’ll find (as of now) 27million articles about it. I’d say that’s pretty popular. Lightbox is a javascript based prog that will display images from thumbnails on top of page. Not in it, not on another page, on top.
